Background[]
The song was featured on a playlist titled "What You Never Got to Hear: A Farewell to the Gangbang Era", posted to Ayesha's deleted SoundCloud account, "pussysugar".[1]
It was available on the playlist for several months, but was eventually removed sometime after July of 2017. However, by March of the following year, it had been reuploaded to Ayesha’s alternate SoundCloud profile, "ayeshaauciello", which has also since been deleted.[1]
2023[]
On October 21st, 2023, Ayesha tweeted a snippet of the lyrics to the song, possibly teasing it: "That poor what's her name.... (Me)".[2] Additionally, she later retweeted a fan asking her to perform the song at H3LL.[3]
On October 31st, 2023, a few hours before her show, Ayesha confirmed that the song was going to have it's live debut at H3LL. Later that day, the song had it's live debut.[4]
On November 5th, 2023, Ayesha shared her opinion on the song:[5]
"Yeah, it's kinda ok, tbh my best to me are La Bella Vita, VBS and streets of LA, the rest of the pop stuff I did is mid to me"
Theme[]
In the song, Ayesha describes herself as being constantly pursued and monitored by others, indicated by lines such as "They wanna catch me, they wanna see me cry" and "They all follow me and tapped down Mulholland Drive" This suggests a lack of privacy and an overwhelming sense of being constantly observed and judged.[6]
The chorus highlights the bright lights of attention and the superficial glamour associated with fame, but also emphasizes the detrimental effects it brings. Ayesha mentions passing out from tension and seeing stars circle, indicating the strain and exhaustion she faces while trying to maintain her public image. The repetition of the phrase "That girl's so lost, yeah, what a shame, 'That poor what's-her-name?'" reflects the dismissive and dehumanizing way she is perceived by the public, reducing her to just another forgotten figure in the industry.[6]
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Another breakdown bender, lookin' so slender
Downtown, shootin' for the stars, Sunset Boulevard
Sunglasses, dim flashes, time passes so fast
Up-skirt shots so hot, get your money's worth
[Pre-Chorus]
They wanna catch me, they wanna see me cry
They all follow me and tapped down Mulholland Drive
[Chorus]
The streets of L.A. are bright with the lights of attention (Attention, attention-n-n-n)
They look so pretty when you're passing out from all of the tension
I'm seein' stars circle while I overdose on all of the fame (The fame, the fame-e-e-e)
They'll say "That girls' so lost, yeah, what a shame!"
"That poor what's-her-name?"
[Verse 2]
Light a cigarette, watch me and my friends dance
Swallow more of these pills, these are name brand
I can see you, I'm pretending that I don't
You're pretending that I won't
A relationship unspoken
[Pre-Chorus]
They wanna crack me, I'm daily crucified
They wanna watch me crumble, they wanna see me die
[Bridge]
Watch me daily, public shaming
They tell me how to live as if I'm not the talk of the town
This is more than enough for me
(N-n-n-'nough for me
N-n-n-n-n-'nough for me
N-n-n-n-n-'nough for me
'Nough for me
N-n-n-'nough for me
N-n-n-'nough for me
'Nough for me
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-)
[Outro]
Welcome to L.A. bitch
I'm sure you'll make it
And tell 'em Ayesha sent you
(N-n-n-'nough for me
N-n-n-n-n-'nough for me
N-n-n-n-n-'nough for me
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na)
