I Dream of Zuzie (commonly abbreviated as "IDOZ") is the debut mixtape by Zuzie, an alias used by Ayesha Erotica. The mixtape was originally planned to be released in mid-September 2023, however due to Ayesha being sick, and also unable to mix the songs, it was delayed.[1]

On December 30th, Ayesha announced the mixtape was being postponed.[2]

Background[]

Ayesha's Comeback & Announcement[]

On July 7th, 2023, Lord Pusswhip posted a photo of him and Ayesha in the studio to Twitter. The next day, he shared a snippet of the song "I'm High" through his Instagram and deleted the photo he posted to Twitter.[3]

On July 26th, Chase Icon made an Instagram live where Ayesha made an appearance, stating that new music is going to come out soon, also the same day, Chase posted on Instagram and Twitter a photo of her and Ayesha and an announcement that Ayesha will perform live on August 18th.[4][5] The next day, on July 27th, Chase shared a snippet of a song featuring Ayesha, also revealing that the title is "The Set Up", however no release date was given.[5][4]

On August 18th, Ayesha made her previously announced live debut on a nightclub hosted by Shop HEAV3N in Los Angeles, singing "Dial Tone" with That Kid and her singles "Vacation Bible School" and "Yummy". Ayesha also perfomed "gigabowser" and "That Fuckin Slut" with her then-partner Yvncc.

Later, on August 31st, 2023, Ayesha revealed on an Instagram live that she would be releasing a new mixtape titled I Dream of Zuzie. Ayesha confirmed that the mixtape will be a mix of pop and rap. She confirmed that there will be twenty tracks on the mixtape including four features and a cover. Ayesha also confirmed her friend That Kid will be featured on one of the collaboration tracks. There will also be music videos that will be released.

On September 2nd, 2023, Ayesha shared behind the scenes photos for the music video of "gigabowser", directed by Goldblum.

On September 24th, 2023, American rapper CLIP tweeted "Clip x Ayesha Erotica". The next day, she tweeted, "Guys me and Ayesha erotica about 2 save the world".[6]

Delays & Eventual Postponing[]

On September 27th, 2023, Ayesha's friend and manager Petey Plastic, confirmed via Discord that the mixtape was being delayed due to Ayesha being sick and unable to record the final vocals.[1]

Later on October 7th, 2023 Ayesha shared news that confirmed a further delay of the mixtape, however that it'll still be released relatively soon and that a couple songs will be performed during the upcoming "Shop HEAV3N" performance. She also confirmed "gigabowser" would be dropped as single before the mixtape, alongside a music video.[7][8]

"the mixtape is coming when it comes because i'm a perfectionist, and don't have access to a setup where i can really mix this shit right, and mary was the closest to that, so for now, its on hold, but not for too much longer, def gonna be performing a lot of the tracks at h3ll".

In the same thread, Ayesha was asked about upcoming features on the mixtape's tracklist. She replied:"that kid, clip and yvncc are confirmed confirmed so far <3". [9]

In a live from December 6th, 2023, Ayesha was asked about the mixtape once more. She explained:[10]

"When I'm gonna drop the new album? I just said. It's probably not gonna happen for a second. Maybe January, February, but I don't wanna promise no dates because, um, I don't know. The more I promise, the more shit just keeps happening."

In the same live, she stated that she was working on getting CD's for the mixtape: "We need CD's for the mixtape? We're working on it. My boyfriend put me onto some cool spots, so, we're working on it." [11]

During the following months, Ayesha would preview more snippets from the mixtape despite not setting another expected release date. Those included a snippet of an early demo of "Eiffel Tower" posted to her Twitter account on November 16th, 2023, a short short snippet of "HOUSE PARTY" being posted onto her Instagram story in October 20th, 2023—with the song being performed on October 31st, 2023—and "Zuziephobia", which was teased via an Instagram live on December 30th, 2023.[12]

On December 10th, 2023, in a Tweet, Ayesha confirmed that "gigabowser" was the mixtape's lead single while simultaneously deconfirming "Snooki" being featured on the mixtape: "It's gigabowser actually 😊 these are singles for fun. I like having fun and playing basketball and music". [13]

On December 30th, 2023, Ayesha made a thread, teasing an album that many fans were hoping to be brought back. After a fan asked her if the mixtape was still coming, she alluded to the mixtape being scrapped, stating: "prolly not, gonna seperate zuzie y ayesha, they will be unrelated, and this year will be about ae". [2]

A bit after, she clarified that it's not going to be scrapped: "(mixtape) and no, its just not gonna be apart of ayesha erotica, which is the focus this year. trust, what ya'll are getting is what u actually want! i dream of zuzie would have been far left and not apart of this world". [14]

In a live from January 5th, 2024, Ayesha confirmed that the album was being put on a hiatus to focus her efforts on horny.4u: "The Zuzie album is gonna be on hiatus, because I do wanna focus on Ayesha Erotica."

On April 1st to April 2nd, Ayesha announced her breakup with Yvncc via Instagram stories, with the stories talking about moving on and not stopping her work because of the breakup, with the single "gigabowser" being released on April 2nd.[15]

On May 24th, 2024, Ayesha confirmed that both of the projects would be released together as she had finally sorted out problems she faced with distribution, again, without a set release date.[12]

On June 12th, Ayesha posted an Instagram story, confirming that she's still working on the mixtape, finalizing its tracklist, and shared a cut song, "shawty".

Public Opinion[]

The mixtape faced a lot of negative feedback by fans which were reasonably not adjacent to Ayesha’s new sound, which made her question whether or not she wanted to release it. On February 26th, 2024, she put out a poll asking fans what they wanted her to release on March 5th: I Dream of Zuzie or a reworked version of the long-awaited fan-favorite scrapped album horny.4u.[12]

As expected, most voted for the scrapped album and this mixtape went indefinitely delayed as Ayesha has switched focus to working on a new and improved horny.4u album. Despite the release of the lead single "gigabowser" on April 2nd, 2024 and posterior singles, no release date was announced for the project.[12]
