"from the back" (stylized in all lowercase) is a double-single release by Ayesha Erotica. The 2018 version was possibly meant to be included on the scrapped 2018 album, horny.4u, while the 2024 reworked version is featured on the rework of the 2018 album, horny.4u. Both versions were released on June 29th, 2024.[1]
Background[]
The original version of the song was possibly featured on horny.4u (2018), but the album ended up being scrapped due to her late retirement in the same year.[2]
Sometime around November-early December 2018, the song was pitched to Serena Smith (later being confirmed by her posting a snippet of the unpitched version of it onto her Instagram story following the pitch of the demo to her). Later on after, Serena seemingly rejected it.[2]
Ayesha went on to pitch the demo to That Kid and Kyunchi which saw the potential and had the idea of making it Mean Girls themed. Ayesha was able to change the lyrics up really quickly, resulting in "Regina George". The song was later released on December 12th, 2018.[2]
In a now-deleted Instagram story, on June 26th, 2024, Ayesha posted the story of her uploading the single showing 2 tracks, one being the 2018 demo and the other one being the 2024 remaster for her upcoming album, horny.4u. A day after Ayesha teased the two upcoming singles in her story, both of the songs got leaked in HQ.[2] Despite the leak, the single was released in the promised date. Shortly after the single's release, she stated:[3]
"So… In 2018 I sold the original instrumental for this song to another artist and flipped the entire idea into the song “Regina George.” But through FBI technology I was able to recover the original demo and concept I made in 2018 and finish the song with more updated production".
