Fins

"Fins (Sink or Swim Pt. 2)" is a song by Ayesha Erotica, featured as the sixth track on her debut EP, CUMSHOT. It was released on August 8th, 2016.[1] It was intended to be featured as the fourteenth and final track on her album, Gangbang, but the project was later scrapped.[1]

Background[]

Ayesha briefly talked about the track and explained it's background in the Bandcamp description of the song:[2]

"Fins is completely me, it’s about this boy named Finn that kinda broke my heart, but it’s also a sequel to my song “Sink Or Swim” which was about Kevin, the situations were very similar, so i mean, hey. Anyway, if Finn ever hears this, i want you to know i threw away your newport packs and actually found someone kinda cooler that’s not as shitty or judgemental, so thank you for making me relapse and look for random internet boys to fill the hole because i’m super happy right now, that sounds cunty, but i swear, i’m actually thanking you, good luck with the sober thing."[2]

2023[]

On October 7th, 2023, more than seven years after its initial release, Ayesha reflected on "Fins" via Twitter. [1][3] She explained:[4]

"this guy named finn (lmao), i dont wanna spill his business, but basically he was sober, i was not, this was our issue. we had the same birthday so i was really dramatic and thought it was meant to be. it was not. he was cool tho. kinda regret making that song but its whatevs. he was sober and i was not, and he def deserved better than a clingy cokehead who was mad he wouldn’t commit after 2 dates".

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
I still hold on to your empty packs of Newports
Used to winning but you're someone I would lose for
I keep you in my mind, strumming your guitar
Can't no one compete with you so far

[Pre-Chorus]
Was it the pills? Did I just keep going too fast?
How does it feel to throw me into your past?
Did I even have a chance? Did you pretend to like me for fun?
You had more than a chance
In the ranks you're probably still number one

[Chorus]
You're so deep and I was ready to jump in
You're so steep but I would climb up you again
Hit or miss, baby, I would give you another spin
But if you're not interested then I don't need your fins to swim

[Post-Chorus]
'Cause I won't sink
No, I won't drown in my feelings for you
'Cause I won't sink
No, I won't drown in my feelings for you

[Verse 2]
Truth be told, I guess I may have overrated you
If you were so damn perfect for me
I think I probably would have hated you

[Pre-Chorus]
Was it the pills? Did I just keep going too fast?
How does it feel to throw me into your past?
Did I even have a chance? Did you pretend to like me for fun?
You had more than a chance
In the ranks you're probably still number one

[Chorus]
You're so deep and I was ready to jump in
So steep but I would climb up you again
Hit or miss, baby, I would give you another spin
But if you're not interested then I don't need your fins to swim

[Post-Chorus]
'Cause I won't sink
No, I won't drown in my feelings for you
'Cause I won't sink
No, I won't drown in my feelings for you
